The shelter does not receive funding from either the ASPCA or the Humane Society of the United States. Our existence depends primarily on the generosity of people like you. No donation is ever too small and never too big.
We Need Your Help – Here are some items that are always in demand!
- URGENT Bleach, Paper Towels and Canned Cat Food (any but fish or liver).
- Pine Sol, Simple Green, and Odoban (sold in SAMs Club and Walmart )
- Dry and canned cat food.
- Dry and canned dog food. We can also use sensitive skin and sensitive stomach formula dry foods .
- Dry and canned puppy food .
- Laundry & dish detergent , rubber gloves .
- Blankets and towels , wee wee pads .
- Old refrigerator porcelain fruit/meat bins
- Tins (cookie and candy tins for example)

We are proud to announce our new “Cage Sponsorship” program.
Our “Cage Sponsorship” programs allows people, groups or organizations to sponsor an animal’s cage, either dog, cat or bird for a period of one month, six months or one year.
This allows the sponsorship funds assigned to that cage to stay with that cage, regardless of whether or not that particular animal is adopted. Cage Sponsorship could actually benefit more than one animal depending on the length of time your particular sponsorship runs.
For example, if you want to sponsor a dog cage for six months, and the dog that is presently in that particular cage is adopted, the next dog to be placed in that cage is automatically sponsored for the remaining length of time or until that dog is adopted and so on.
There is a plaque placed on the cage with the sponsor’s name for the length of the sponsorship. Anyone coming into the shelter to view the animals will see the sponsorship plaque with the sponsor’s name.
The prices for Cage Sponsorship are as follows:

If you think you might be interested in helping us by sponsoring one of our pet cages, please contact the shelter any day between 12 noon and 4pm at (845) 361-1861 or feel free to stop in and ask about the program in person.
We have now started our Animal Sponsorship Program!
You can donate money towards an animal’s adoption fee to help get them new homes, even if you can’t adopt. We will still have the same adoption process with personal and vet references so that we know whether or not the potential adopters will be able to afford their new pet, but they won’t have to worry about paying both our adoption fee and a vet visit fee to get their newest family member checked out!

Theresa Dering is an incredible photographer. She has made herself available to take pictures of our animals, so they can be viewed in the best possible light. EMAIL her at theresa@tkdstudios.com to set up a photo session of your own pets. She even donated a portrait session to be auctioned off at the brunch.

Beds for our Dogs
Our dogs love to sleep on Kuranda Dog beds, but we don’t have enough for everyone. If you would like to donate a bed at a special wholesale price for another dog to sleep in comfort, please donate a Kuranda dog bed by clicking here.
